There are several ways that you can help Home-Start Central & West Cheshire in a voluntary capacity:

  • by supporting a family as a home-visiting volunteer
  • by becoming a trustee
  • by helping us with fundraising

Home-Start Central & West Cheshire’s family support volunteers come from many different backgrounds and vary in age but all are either parents themselves or have parenting experience. All volunteers attend a preparation course before being matched with a family. They then take their own individual skills and experience to the families they visit.

Christine, a Home-Start Volunteer says…

“I have been a Home-Start volunteer for the past year and it has had such a positive impact on the family I visit weekly and also for me personally. It is incredible how much of a difference just a couple of hours chatting with Mum or playing with a toddler can make. It’s hugely rewarding and a great privilege.”

The Home-Start Central & West Cheshire’s Management Committee is made up of local people from a wide range of backgrounds such as HR, social housing, health, education and business. The main requirements of a trustee are a real interest in the family support work we undertake and a willingness to be involved and active in the running of the charity. The committee ensures correct governance and is responsible for the financial security of the organisation.

Peter Connor – Treasurer

Having been involved with Home-Start for several years as a trustee I have seen the difference the support of a Home-Start Volunteer can make to a family. Volunteers benefit hugely too…it’s a win-win situation!
